Love for a Lifetime

In the 42nd year of our marriage, my husband and I never stopped being in love. Of course there were difficult times, of course there was bickering. We started out the right way, lots of couples do (and some don’t). I don’t know if I can give anyone the secret formula for a marriage that lasts a lifetime. Even if I could, not everyone will listen. Most don’t.

“A Love for a Lifetime” is dedicated to my husband. He still makes me laugh and every day I find another reason why I married him, why I love him.

Verse
Don’t fall in love with love
I’ve been down that road before
It burned bright but faded quickly
And wounded me to my core

Chorus
You don’t fall in love one time
Though it starts out that way
For love to last a lifetime
You fall in love every day

Verse
Love can live among the stones
In laughter and in tears
And grow a little stronger
With every passing year

Chorus
You don’t fall in love one time
Though it starts out that way
For love to last a lifetime
You fall in love every day

Bridge
We’ve seen many years go by
More than we want to confess
And yet our love grows stronger
Instead of growing less

Outro
We still laugh and joke together
At things nobody sees
I’ve heard your tales a thousand times
But they mean the world to me
